Blogging Ethics

Blogging ethics are very subjective, but in order for Sarawak Bloggers to maintain a healthy group of bloggers whom are respectable and also ethical in blogging, Sarawak Bloggers core team has decided that there is a need to address and place out a formal definition of blogging ethics.  Nonetheless, in respect of acknowledging the fact that blogging is a form of expressing one self online, we have decided to give our so called 'blogging ethics' some bit of lineancy.  The following are blogging ethics according to Sarawak Bloggers:
  1. Blogs post must be truthful and honest, and must not try to give false impression on a certain issue to the extend of trying to defame someone or some organization or party.
  2. While we do not stop bloggers from doing paid post, we feel that it is unethical to fill up your blog to the brim with paid post. Try making the paid post not obvious if you can. Blend it in the blog.  It would be better to space out paid post and your personal post because featuring paid post only is simply not good.  A good example is how Kenny Sia does his sponsored post.
  3. Bloggers must try to refrain from using vulgar words excessively in the post as it reflects on the personality of the blogger itself.  If it can't be avoided, try replacing the vulgar words with symbols such as F%^&!!
  4. Bloggers should never mention a particular name/company in their post especially when the post is negative in nature about that particular individual/company.  Doing so will eventually land you in trouble if the company decides to take legal action.
  5. Blogging about personal life is good and interesting to read, but keep it subtle because you won't want strangers stalking you easily.
  6. Sex sells, but do not go overboard, unless you're running a porno site.  Nonetheless, Porno sites/blogs are not accepted by Sarawak Bloggers.
